Yamaha YZF-R3 : After a period of eager anticipation, Yamaha has officially reintroduced the YZF-R3 to the Indian market, delivering exciting news for sports bike enthusiasts. The 2025 model arrives with a host of upgrades, blending aggressive styling, race-derived technology, and refined performance. Positioned as a premium lightweight supersport, the R3 is designed for riders seeking a thrilling yet practical machine for both daily commutes and weekend adventures.
A Design Inspired by Racing Pedigree
The new YZF-R3 makes a powerful visual statement, drawing direct inspiration from its larger siblings in Yamaha’s R-series family. Its design is characterized by an angular fairing, a sharp twin-headlamp setup with modern LED illumination, and aggressive bodywork that creates a dynamic, forward-leaning profile. Beyond its aesthetics, the bike’s form is highly functional; the carefully sculpted fairing improves aerodynamics by managing wind flow and reducing rider fatigue at higher speeds. From its sleek fuel tank to its compact tail section, every element reinforces its track-ready identity, ensuring it stands out in both city traffic and on the open road.
Thrilling Twin-Cylinder Performance
The YZF-R3 comes on a powerful 321cc, liquid-cooled, parallel twin engine. This engine punches a smooth and linear power curve with a peak figure of 42 bhp @ 10,750 rpm and 29.5 Nm at 9,000 rpm. Mated to a slick six-speed gearbox, the motor delivers sharp throttle response and tractable delivery of power that forks will love in city and canyons alike, and yes, down the highway as well. It’s a mix that expertly blends high rpm performance with muscular low and midrange power, it’s an incredibly exciting ride on the track or the street and it’s a machine that will delight and satisfy even the most cost conscious of riders.

Technology and Handling for Confident Riding
The 2025 R3 offers a variety of options to improve the ride. The RIDER… Fully digital LCD instrument cluster offers a wide range of information to the rider in a clean, modern package. The handling part is taken care of by KYB upside-down front fork and a link-type monoshock at the rear that combines to give accurate and confidence cornering status. Braking is taken care of with a 298mm front disc and a 220mm rear disc, supported by a dual-channel ABS for safe stopping power in any condition. It discharges a wet weight of 169 kg and is extremely agile and nimble.
Ergonomics Sporty Yet Manageable
Although designed with a sporty bias, the R3 sacrifices less on comfort. The riding stance has clip-on handlebars and rear-set footpegs resulting in an aggressive riding posture which is not too taxing for long hauls. With 780mm seat height to accommodate all manners of rider stature, plus the plush seat cushioning, it’s an instrument of comfort. Its lightweight frame and ergonomic profile, coupled with premium components, provide a great tool for mountain exploration whenever you feel like it.
Pricing and Final Thoughts
The Yamaha YZF-R3 is available in both Racing Blue and midnight black, both with color coordinated air scoops and matching graphics. It has been introduced at an ex-showroom price of ₹4.65 lakh and competes against the likes of the KTM RC 390 and the Kawasaki Ninja 300. This is slightly more expensive, but the premium is warranted for its sophisticated parallel-twin motor, premium mechanicals and the legendary Yamaha brand name. Re-launching the YZF-R3 makes for another exciting chapter as we at Yamaha are working towards a clear mission together with our dealers and channel partners of being the “most preferred brand in India” says Motofumi Shitara, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India group of companies with the reintroduction of YZF-R3 in India for our customers in the country under CBU.
